How to Change your Attitude Towards People

The great Winston Churchill once said, "Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference". Life has never been kind, but if we really want to enjoy it, it can only be possible with a positive attitude.
It may seem difficult to have a positive outlook in today's world, but once the transition has been made, life can really become more pleasant and enjoyable.
As humans, we have all done certain things we aren't proud of. There have been times when we haven't been on our best behavior, and have caused people or friends disappointment and pain. Those bad decisions can't be taken back, but we definitely can ensure that the same mistakes aren't repeated in the future.
The only way to have a better and content future is to change our outlook or attitude towards life. We all are born on this planet with a motive.
However, few tend to achieve that motive with hard work and a positive attitude, while the majority become busy blaming life, having unrealistic expectations, gradually developing a pessimistic attitude which doesn't benefit them or the people around them.
This story suggests certain changes that can help people change their attitude from negative to positive.

Sort Relationships

Relationships are important for survival. They are also one of the most important sources of happiness, and often offer unconditional support in trying times. Establishing healthy relationships and eliminating those which only promote negativity can really help an individual in becoming a better person.

Look at the Brighter Side of Things

Even in the most unfortunate circumstances, there is always something to look forward to. In life, we do come across various situations where we compare our fate with others, and crib about all the things that they have and we don't.
There is no end to this comparison game because there are always going to be people who are 'better off' and are 'living the dream'. And people will always compare their worst with the best of others. Never go to the comparison road, cause it is endless.

Surround Yourself with Positive People

You are who you hang out with - this simply means that it is the people whom you roam with that will make or break you. It is essential to make a sincere effort with such people who are a positive influence and have always shown the path of righteousness. They not only help develop a positive attitude, but also act as an inspiration to do great things.

Believe in Yourself

Lack of motivation causes a great deal of stress, and negative thoughts easily pop up when a person suffers from an inferiority complex.
Never think less of yourself; you are as unique and important as everyone else. Clear your mind and get rid of all the negativity. Always remember, that you have a purpose in this world, and it really won't be this awesome without you.

Think Positive

Thinking positive is an important part of being positive.
It is also the first step in self-improvement, as improving oneself is only possible through positive thinking. It has been noted that positive thinkers or optimists are better equipped in handling disappointments as compared to pessimists, as they usually focus on things that can be done to tackle it rather than spending hours complaining.

Appreciate Constructive Criticism

It isn't wise to get upset or angry with people who point out personal or professional shortcomings.
First analyze the situation and see if they are right. Check if it is constructive criticism or a cowardly attempt by a foe to discredit you. If genuine mistakes are found, accept them, and work harder the next time. If not, then there is nothing to worry about.

Help Others

Helping or being kind to someone in their time of need is probably the easiest way to be happy. It is by doing these simple deeds that important discoveries about oneself are made. Helping others, even in small things, helps in the birth of a happier, generous, and resourceful you.

Be Prepared for the Worst

Something my mother always says. It isn't advised to plan everything in life because life is unpredictable.
One of the best ways to maintain a positive attitude is not to rely on your plans too much. This way when the unexpected happens, not much time is spent worrying about it. Hence do plan, but remember that not everything in life is planned. The best way to live is to adapt to everyday changes and work hard towards what's important.

Be Thankful

Each day take a few moments, and be thankful for all the great pleasures that life has provided. Even during tough times, remember the people who were always there and provided unconditional love and support. Think about everything that is right and forget about the wrong; your heart will be filled with gratitude in no time.
In the end, the choice is entirely up to the individual. Always remember these golden words from David Bailey, "A positive attitude can really make dreams come true."
