Punching Bags for Anger Management

This is an ancient Chinese proverb which holds true today too. But, only those people who have a bad temper, know how difficult it is to practice self control when the temper rises.
How many times has it happened that acting out of anger has made you blind, and the situation turned out to be worse, where you hurt someone you are close to or somebody who was important to you.
Many times, lashing out due to anger can harm a relationship forever, or expressing anger at your boss can make you lose your job too. These are some of the byproducts of a bad temper, that a person deals with.

But, is storing up the vented anger a good idea? One does hurt others when they act out of anger, but if they suppress the anger, it also hurts oneself. So what to do? Is there a way out? Is there a way that one expresses all the anger, without having to regret?

Punching Bags to Vent Out Anger

Yes, this is true, that one who anger you conquers you. But how to get over it?

Colin Powell says "Get mad, then get over it."
But how is this possible? There is a way out. One needs to find a vent. One needs to express, so that the anger comes out and there are no woes or wounds within you. This is an ancient anger management technique and one which can help you. There are many ways to vent out your anger.
"When you feel angry, there is no need to be angry against someone; just be angry. Let it be a meditation. Close the room, sit by yourself, and let the anger come up as much as it can. If you feel like beating, beat a pillow.." - Osho
But if you have a really bad temper, then you will be tearing a pillow everyday. Seems expensive! Also, after tearing up a pillow, you will have to clean up the whole room! One way is to use punching bags for anger management. You can try a punching bag workout as an outlet to let go of your anger.
However, when using punching bags, one need to punch consciously. Because, some studies show that using catharsis of this sort can actually make a person more aggressive. But, the point of using punching bags is to use them to let go of anger. Hence, use the them consciously.

You don't have to strike your wife, your friend, your boss, or anybody, when you are angry. You just need use punching bags to control your anger. So install a punching bag.
Make sure the installation is sturdy. Just buy a quality bag from a fitness store or even online. Install it on a stand which is fixed on the floor, and has a chain on top which is fixed to the ceiling.
Then consciously lash out at the punching bag and let go of your anger. If you wish to make this as a regular workout, then educating yourself on punching bag techniques or taking a few classes will help you practice punching better.

To go a step ahead of anger management, watch your anger. For example, if somebody is scolding you and you are getting angry, just sit silently and watch, and know that you can always express the anger on the punching bag, and feel relieved. So no need to actually collect the anger. If this understanding sinks into you, you would have transformed your anger well.
