Self-confidence Activities

Rashida Khilawala
There are a few activities that you can indulge in on your own to build up your confidence. Self-confidence activities are a very important aspect of corporate training and personality development. However, they are not confined to such events alone. Read on to know about them.
Have you had those days where you just felt like being by yourself, because you don't think you "fit in"? Has failure been as much a part of your life, as success for the rich and famous? Do you feel nervous every time someone speaks to you? Do you have a hard time looking for a confident you? Well, then let me tell you, you are not at all alone.
We all have our ups and downs in life. Success and failure go hand in hand. I believe, if we do not experience sadness, we will never value the happiness that life offers us. However, bad times in life, lead us to believe that things will never be better, and that we are getting lesser, because we deserve lesser.
This is a classic example of low self-esteem. This is the key to solving several problems in life. If you are confident of your entity, then no one can stop you from making your presence felt.
Have you ever wondered why some people grab all the attention that moment they enter a room? It is because of their self-confidence. Here are a few activities to build your confidence, that you can engage in to help you out.

How to Develop Self-confidence?

Follow Your Hobbies

I am sure you have hobbies. These are things that you love doing. Be it painting, sketching, or even gardening. Our confidence starts taking a hit, when we fail to spend any time on ourselves. You need to make sure that you remove some time for yourself and your hobby on a weekly basis.
This will make you happy (because you are doing something you love) and will give you a sense of accomplishment (because you will be good at it). This happiness and satisfying feeling, in turn, will give you a much-needed boost.
In fact, most confidence building techniques revolve around this single principle, "Do what you are good at, it will make you feel more confident and happy".

Setting Goals

Goals in life give us direction. One will mostly find that people without a goal are lost. So, write down a list of your goals, long term and short term. Put them down on a sheet of paper and keep it where you can see it on a daily basis. Keep realistic goals for yourself. Divide them into daily goals, weekly goals, monthly goals, and annual goals.
Keep the goals challenging, yet within reach. Mind you, unrealistic goals will lead you to feel even less confident about yourself. Each goal when achieved should be checked. This will keep you assured that you are on the right path, hence keeping you confident!

Celebrate Your Accomplishments

I am not asking you to go around town bragging about every tiny thing you do, but if you have done something worthwhile, celebrate it. Pop up a bottle of bubbly, or just take your special someone out for a romantic dinner. Whether it is for overshooting your monthly target, or making a particularly difficult deal crack through, it is worth the celebration.
This will really help you to feel more confident about yourself! I suggest you take it a step forward and put a note on your refrigerator about it. Even if you are the only one to read it, it is worth it.

Look Smart

Looks matter, and you know that! On days that I feel my confidence give way, I spend that extra 5 minutes on myself. I make sure I apply make up, and I dress in my favorite clothes. When I know that I am looking better than I normally do, I feel more radiant and confident.
More so, the compliments, just put the icing on the cake. Take my word on this, look good to feel good!

Self Affirmation

Lastly, you can take the help of self affirmations. It is a self-hypnosis process that one can use. Everyday, just after you wake up, or before you start driving to work, or at any point of time in the day, say self affirmations to yourself. Yes, I know that you never thought that you would need to talk to yourself, but it helps.
In fact, even if you don't have an issue with your confidence, try it out. It really helps you believe in yourself and feel stronger from within. You can also repeat these self-affirmations before you do something important like sit for a meeting or an exam of any kind. This will help you find the inner strength that you require.
Most personality development workshops and corporate training events have such activities. The bottom line is having faith in oneself. Remember, if you cannot love yourself, you cannot love anyone or anything else. So, do yourself justice, and have faith in yourself! Be happy and feel good, it is the best route to self-confidence. All the best!
